Will Squiers Named 2011 Davey O’Brien High School Scholarship Recipient
2011 DAVEY O’BRIEN HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
RECIPIENT ANNOUNCED

FORT WORTH, Texas – Will Squiers, of Cistercian Preparatory School in Irving, Texas, was named the 2011 Davey O’Brien High School Scholarship Award recipient by the Davey O’Brien Foundation. The scholarship was awarded during the Foundation’s 5th Annual High School Scholarship Luncheon at The Fort Worth Club on January 17, 2012. Finalists for the scholarship included Haley Beck, Coppell High School; William Jameson, Duncanville High School; Lee Lueder, Lake Highlands High School; and Kim Reimold, Episcopal School of Dallas.
Since 1986, the Foundation has provided more than $530,000 in scholarships to high school seniors. Recipients are chosen on the basis of scholastic achievements, community service, character, leadership and varsity sports participation. The recipient receives a $20,000 scholarship to the college or university of his/her choice. The Foundation will also award a $1,000 scholarship to each of the four finalists. Scholarships are underwritten by Higginbotham and the Sid W. Richardson Foundation.
2011 Davey O’Brien High School Scholarship Recipient
Will Squiers is a gifted and devoted individual who has cultivated his academic and athletic talents during his time at Cistercian Preparatory School. Recognized as a National Merit Semifinalist and a National AP Scholar, he has earned a spot on the Headmaster’s Honor Roll every semester and was inducted into the Cum Laude Society. Will is a tri-sport varsity athlete in football, baseball and soccer, and he also plays on the select Dallas Cardinals Baseball Team. His teachers and coaches have praised him as “an enormously intelligent, passionately driven seventeen year old” with the “desire to share the fruits of his labors with others.” In addition to being an accomplished pianist and self-taught guitarist, Will is very involved in his community. He volunteers for the Special Olympics, is a member of the Down Syndrome Guild and was elected to serve on the Cistercian Community Service Council.
