Quarterback of the Week – Kellen Moore
KELLEN MOORE NAMED DAVEY O’BRIEN
QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK
September 19, 2011
FORT WORTH, Texas – Throwing for 455 yards and five touchdowns, Boise State’s Kellen Moore has been named the Davey O’Brien Quarterback of the Week. His performance helped the fourth-ranked Broncos to a 40-15 win over Toledo.
The senior was more than impressive, connecting on 32-of-42 pass attempts and posting the third 400-yard game of his career. During the aerial assault, Moore hit nine different Bronco receivers, eight of whom connected on multiple throws.
“The way Kellen spreads the ball around, you don’t really know how many yards he throws or who catches them all,” Boise State head coach Chris Petersen said of the standout.
Though Toledo was first to find the scoreboard, Moore responded with three straight touchdowns, the second of which came on a season-long 71-yard strike. His first-half performance gave the Broncos a 20-9 lead, which he would increase with a pair of scores in the second half.
In just two games this season, the Prosser, Wash., native has thrown for 716 yards and eight touchdowns while connecting on 78.9 percent of his passes. Next week, Moore and the Broncos will host Tulsa for a Saturday night match-up.
