O’Brien Watch List candidates go head-to-head in week three

FORT WORTH, Texas – The 2010 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award® (The O’Brien) Marquee Match-up for week three features a prime-time showdown between O’Brien Watch List candidates Nick Foles and Ricky Stanzi in Tucson, Ariz.

Throughout the season, The O’Brien will highlight the best weekly quarterback match-up as the race for the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award continues. Quarterbacks from all 120 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools are eligible for the award until the field is narrowed to 16 semifinalists on Monday, Oct. 25.

Marquee Match-up: No. 9 Iowa at No. 24 Arizona
Saturday, September 18 at 9:30 p.m. (CT) on ESPN
In their first road game of the season, senior quarterback Ricky Stanzi and the Iowa Hawkeyes head out west to take on Nick Foles and the Arizona Wildcats. Both quarterbacks will try to make a statement early as they face their first true test of the season in the second game of ESPN’s prime-time doubleheader.

The Hawkeyes were victorious in the last meeting between the two teams, cruising to a 27-17 victory in Iowa City last season. However, Arizona found its star quarterback after Foles, the junior from Austin, Texas, earned the starting role for the Wildcats with an impressive second-half performance.
